DescriptionFontygary Beach, There are three ways to get onto this beach, two go through Fontygary leisure park, As you look at at the buildings from the car park the entrance to the beach is on your left. As you go down the steps you will pass the Fontygary Lifeguards club. This is sheltered beach backed by limestone cliffs and made up of a mixture of sand, pebbles, rock pools, saltmarsh and sand dunes.
Fontygary Leisure Park has 25 metre swimming pool, with slide and childrens splash pool, there are Childrens activity areas and a Family entertainment lounge with bar, cafe and beer garden with fantastic panoramic sea views overlooking beach
FeaturesThe third way to get to the beach is to turn down a dead end road opposite the Blue Anchor Inn, Then walk down through East Aberthaw nature reserve between Aberthaw Power Station and Fontygary Leisure Park.
The reserve has a wide range of habitats that makes it one of the richest coastal wildlife sites in Wales.
Near the sea wall is the Aberthaw old lime works, this is a a lovely relic from the industrial age, it closed in 1926. There is a fresh water lake in front of the building.
You can walk your Dogs on the beach all year round.
